13 Axis Machining Center by Motion Control Systems
Built to machine a single cast aluminum part to final tolerances. Four part are
fixtured to the center carriage platen which is indexed
through each of three opposing machining spindles.
The "Z" shaped part is center drilled through the 2 end
surfaces, indexed to the next station and reamed to size and
spot faced to dimension on the outer surface. Then
it's indexed again and spot faced to dimension on the inner
surfaces.
This process is repeated until all four parts are
complete. Then the carriage retracts back onto the
orange "lift and rotate" station which loads another part
platen onto the carriage.
Dimension and parallelism tolerances held were +/- .002"
on finished part.
